Is The Truck Bike Rack The Right One For You?

The trunk on your car is the most expedient area to hold bicycles. First, installation of bars on your roof is not needed, it doesn’t call for a hitch or an extra tire for the other styles of bike racks and, most significantly, car bike rack can be set up on the truck quickly. You can even place it out the box for, afterwards, you can then automatically install it, so that you can travel anytime without any inconvenience.

One of the simplest types of rack to fill up is the car trunk bike rack. If you are notused to carrying your bicycle to the roof of your car, or if a cargo carrier is already situated at your roof, a car trunk bike rack is a good choice, and people at different ages can be at ease with this kind of rack.

Some of the manufacturers of bike racks are Saris, Thule, Allen and Hollywood. The trunk bike racks that are available are two-, three- and four-bike sizes. The Saris Guardian trunk bike rack is 1 model and contains six straps, hardwearing spring buckles and anti-sway design. Mainly, these types of rack are uncomplicated to install and instructional manuals are accessible online to serve as your guide.

Additonally, bicycle placed on the trunk racks are accessible and it can be loaded and unloaded any time you want, even without a help from other people. They normally cost at around the price that ranges from $40 to $140. They have been the most inexpensive type of bike rack but the chances of damaging the vehicle as well as the bike from unintentional scratches are likely to increase compared to other designs of racks.

Straps attached to the trunk bike rack’s frame are connected to the trunk of the car, rear door or at the back bumper. The body of the bike lies on plastic-coated holding arms; improved trunk bicycle racks have padded or concave cradle to support the body. You must secure the rack to the automobile and accurately adjust the rack frame supports and rack arms to maintain the equilibrium of the rack prior to adding the bikes.

The advantages that you can get by using this kind of rack are that it is a great option for a leased or rented car because they are not characteristically vehicle specific. It is much easier to lift and locked the bikes in place. Also, the rack can simply be hoard, even in the trunk because of its small size and design.

The disadvantages that you can encounter while using the trunk bike rack is that the straps might loosen up damage or snap which can dislocate your bike; just be vigilant enough to check it regularly to ensure its optimum level of functioning. There is also a risk of bikes getting damage from backing into objects or being strike by other vehicles.

Oftentimes, padding must be added among the bikes to avoid clashing from each other and scratching. It is not suggested for Tandem bikes. Furthermore, the vision of the driver at the rear view might be blocked by the presence of the rack.

would a thule 725 fit my truck's factory rack?

the thule website advises the 91724 flat top ski rack for my 2006 chevy trailblazer's factory roof rack. realizing that the model 725 flat top ski rack is probably no longer supported, does anyone know if this would fit the same truck?

Get the Fat Mouth clamps from Thule. Those clamps fit almost every factory roof rack. I have an '03 Chevy and they fit my racks. The clamps have all sorts of combinations for the inserts, so they fit most models. You just attach the Flat Top to the rack.

Now...all that might be moot if the 725 is too wide for your roof. That is a 6-ski rack and the 91724 (aka the 724) is a 4-ski rack. In that case, you'll have to get load bars and attach them to your side rails. I have to do this when I put my 724 rack and my cargo box on the car at the same time. The load bars run around $60 and the mounting stuff can vary in price from $50-$100.

Stop in to see your Thule dealer and they can get you hooked up with the right stuff.

Should I part out my track car? (need pricing advice) (bimmerforums)

I've been trying to sell my semi-complete 95 M3 track car, but nobody is
buying. It's been for sale...
