Vacuum Cleaners - A Cylinder Or Upright Vacuums For Better Suction?

I've never had a good track record with vacuum cleaners whether they be the upright or cylinder type. The problem is that I always manage to break them just after the guarantee period has run out and I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay extended guarantees for electrical items. I always figure that by the time I need to replace an item I would have spent more on insurance than the cost of replacing, and especially as electrical items seem to come down in price after their initial launch. Getting them repaired and paying for spare parts can be almost as costly as buying new.

Because of my bad track record I've become quite an expert at choosing vacuums and deciding what features I want. I've also experienced quite a lot of different types. I seem to alternate between upright and cylinder, probably disatisfaction of the previous model. I also alternate between low cost and expensive. Maybe because whenever a low cost item breaks down I cod myself into thinking that a high ticket product will last longer.

It's been such a problem that I even had a demonstration of an expensive Kirby in my home once. That was a complete farce. The guy who was doing the demonstration did the usual sales pitch of vacuuming part of my matress and then emptying the dust onto my carpet, this demonstrates just how much crap is in your matress and how Kirbys remove it all and make sleeping so much better and healthier for you.

My very friendly dog Patch decided to sit in the middle of the dust and would not be budged. Her happy wagging tail was sending the dust flying all over. The salesman didn't know what to do in that situation, he was terrified that she would bite him and I'm ashamed to say that we found the panicked look on his face amusing. It got worse when he tried to demonstrate the durability of this product. Holding the vacuum cleaner  pipe in his hands he told us that it was unbreakable **SNAP** the poor guys face had us roaring with laughter as he looked at the 2 broken halves.

I never did buy a Kirby, but to be honest I let the salesman do the demonstration as a favour. My daughter was doing her work experience in the companies office and the salesman was new and needed to meet a quota of demonstrations.

I had a wet dry cleaner once. It looked like one of those Henry cleaners and could also be used to shampoo carpets. It was quite useful when my washing machine leaked, I was able to use it to suck up all of the excess water much more easily than mopping it up. That one didn't last much longer than the quarantee and I remember it being heavy and difficult to pull around.

I had a cylinder vacuum that I liked and it lasted a few years but bags were a problem for it. In the olden days you had cloth bags that could be washed and used again and again. This vacuum had paper bags that were expensive to buy and only meant to be used until full and then thrown away. I sometimes managed to empty them and use them again but eventually the shop that I had bought the vacuum cleaner and bags from closed and I couldn't get the bags anywhere. That was before I found the internet and I'm sure things would have been different if I had searched online for them.

I quite liked my last vac and still have it for upstairs use. That one is an upright cleaner and was fine until I got a new short piled carpet in my sitting room. It just didn't have a strong enough suction to keep that particular carpet clean and when I took in a stray cat that sheds a lot of black hairs that makes the carpets look dirty I found that it was easier and more effective to brush the carpet than hoover it. I also found as I got older that the upright was getting too heavy to take up and down the stairs in my house.

Heaven came in the form of a Dyson . I bought it online and it's a perfect fit for me. It sucks like nobodies business, Sparky the cat can shed hairs as much as she wants and my Dyson makes them disappear. It doesn't need bags, cloth or paper, you just take the plastic tub off and empty it. It's light, I can easily carry it up and down the stairs and it pulls along behind you without a struggle. It has lots of tools, so many that I haven't figured out what they are all for yet. I've had this vacuum cleaner a couple of years now and can honestly say that I would get a Dyson again when this one eventually gives up the ghost.

Learning About Several Types Of Plastic Injection Molding Equipment

Injection molding is described as a technique for manufacturing parts from plastic. In this process, the plastic is heated into the liquid form and injected into the molds which form the plastic as it cools and hardens. The injection molding process is mostly used in plastic bottle industry to make water and soda bottles. The injection molding includes a high production speed and reusable molds which keep overall costs low.

There are numerous kinds of injection molding equipment that used in injection molding process. Each one of the equipment has important role in this process. With the help of this molding equipment, the injection molding process can be more reliable, more versatile, and easier when comparing with other types of injection molding. By looking into the following info, you will get further understanding about several types of equipment for injection molding.

The first equipment that becomes the key part of injection molding is named the barrel. This is actually a metal cylinder which houses the reciprocating screw. The barrel can be used to empty the plastic granules through the hopper and while in the barrel the combination of heat from heaters and friction from reciprocating screw liquidizes plastic pellets. The injection nozzle is at the end of the barrel, by which molten plastic is injected into the mold.

The second equipment is called reciprocating screw. This equipment sits inside the barrel of injection molding device. It rotates and forces plastic pellets over the barrel and into the mold. In the appearance, it is roughly cylindrical, tapering slightly to the point at one end. The outer surface of this equipment is shaped into the screw thread.

The third equipment is known as hopper. It is useful for keeping plastic granules before they are getting into the barrel. It comes with a large funnel into which plastic granules are deposited before they are entering the barrel.

The fourth equipment is called heater. This heater sits around the barrel and increases the temperature of plastic granules to the point at which they are melting. It enables the molten plastic to be injected into the mold. The heater sits wrapped around the cylinder and it is derived by electricity.

The next equipment is the mold. The mold and the corresponding mold cavity can decide the final shape of injection molded artifact. You should consider that there are specific limitations on the mold design and the molded artifacts design that caused by the requirement of being able to remove artifact when it has solidified.

Lastly, clamp is another injection molding equipment that also plays important part in the molding method. It is employed to hold the platen and the mold as close together as they can be while the molten plastic is setting into the final design of injection molded artifact. This clamp is often adjustable so that the pressure on the platen can be improved for ensuring that the molten plastic has reached every part of mold cavity.

Essentially, there are many molding method which employed for several purposes such as plastic injection molding equipment. You can check out the review about plastic injection molding machines for more information about this molding process.

Find the charge of each cylinder.?

Three solid plastic cylinders all have a radius of 2.50 cm and a length of 6.00 cm. One (a) carries charge with uniform density 15.0 nC/m^2 everywhere on its surface. Another (b) carries charge with the same uniform density on its curved lateral surface only. The third (c) carries charge with uniform density 520 nC/m^3 throughout the plastic.

Cylinder a?
Cylinder b?
Cylinder c?

Chuck, these are really just simple geometry questions masquerading as physics. Don't let the "physics story problem" veneer throw you.

(a)
You're given the charge density per unit area on the surface. Find the surface area of the cylinder and multiply by the charge density -- voilà! Problem solved.

What's the surface area of the cylinder? It's just the surface area of the top (πR²) plus the surface area of the bottom (another πR²) plus the lateral surface area. That lateral area, if "unrolled" from the cylinder, would just be a rectangle of height h (6.00 cm) and width equal to the circumference of the cylinder (2πR). So the total surface area is:

A = A(top) + A(bottom) + A(lateral)
= πR² + πR² + 2πR
= 2πR(R + 1)

(b)
Exactly the same problem as (a), except this time the charge is carried ONLY on the lateral surface. Don't add in the top and bottom surfaces when you calculate surface area.

(c)
Another similar problem, only this time you are given charge per volume. You need to find the volume of the cylinder and multiply that by the charge density. Easier done than said.

What's the volume of a cylinder? As with any right solid, it's the area of the base times the height:

V = A(base) · h = πR²h

Los Angeles: 2012 CR-V proves that Honda and good looks don't need to be strangers (Autoblog)

Filed under: LA Auto Show, Crossover, Honda, Design/Style

The fourth generation Honda CR-V has flown under the radar so far, but given
that the hot-selling crossover hits dealers on December 15, the Los Angeles
Auto Show is as good an opportunity as any for Honda to play show-and-tell.
The 2012 CR-V receives all-new sheetmetal, and the result is a more refined
look that should give Honda fans some hope for the future. The interior has
also been greatly improved, with a more contemporary layout, quick-stow rear
seats and gobs of storage, though the top of the instrument panel and door
caps are still rendered in hard plastic.

Power comes from Honda's faithful 2.4-liver i-VTEC four-cylinder, with 185
horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque - thats five more horsepower and two
additional lb-ft compared to the outgoing CR-V. The transmission continues to
be Honda's tried and true five-speed automatic, which is a bit of a
disappointment given the competition's flurry of next-generation gearboxes
offering more ratios. Still, Honda promises very competitive fuel economy
numbers of 31 miles per gallon on the highway and 23 mpg in the city for the
front-wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive variant ...
