The Right Glass For Your Wine
A lot of people enjoy drinking alcoholic beverages like beer, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, tequila, wine and different variations and mixes of those. Beer usually comes in bottles or drank in regular or plastic cups and beer mugs. A stemmed glass with a cone-shape bowl is the appropriate type of container for cocktail mixes of vodka, rum and gin. With beverages with stronger alcohol content like tequila, a shot glass is used. Glasses for wine, on one hand, come in various shapes and sizes depending on the kind of wine you will be drinking. The glasses for white wines like Savignon Blanc and Chardonnay are not similar from the ones for Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon red wine.
Stemmed Wineglass
The wineglasses come with stems. Generally, wines taste better with a cooler temperature that is why they are best served chilled. It is essential to keep the cool temperature of the drink. You are reducing the chilled temperature of the drink by holding it by the bowl which consequently reduces quality and taste. The correct manner is to hold it by the stem.
Narrow/Wide Bowl
A circular twirling motion is done by some when drinking their red wine. The aroma and flavor is released by doing this. After twirling, some people enjoy smelling the rich essence and aroma of the drink. Wide-mouth glass is ideal for red wines with strong and complex flavors. When exposed to air, the liquid undergoes rapid oxidation which is the process that helps smooth out the strong flavors.
For white wines which are lighter and requires just a lower rate of oxidation, a narrow bowl will be suitable to achieve the ideal taste. You should choose a narrow bowl to prevent high level of oxidation and retain the fresh and crisp flavor.
The look and appearance of glasses add visual appeal and make the experience sophisticated and fancy. The important value of wineglasses is not entirely about visual appeal. It serves as a tool to ensure the quality, taste and overall value. Whether it’s a Sav Blanc, Merlot, Hardys, Cabernet, Chardonnay or any other type or brand, the right glass makes a huge difference. This simple way can make the whole experience richer and more enjoyable.
